Principal’s Message . . .

Dear students and families . . .

I want to wish you all the best as we approach the holiday season.  As tomorrow, December 22nd is my final day as Principal at Tamanawis, I wanted to thank everyone for the well wishes and kind words.  Please know my time serving the students and families of the Tamanawis community has been an incredibly rewarding experience which I will never forget.  The relationships we have forged, and the experiences we have shared in providing engaging learning opportunities for our students, speak to the great school Tamanawis is.

Mr. DeBoice, our new Principal, has visited our school and is excited about the opportunity to lead and serve our students, families, and staff.  He is well aware of how wonderful our school is.

Thanks for all you have done for me. “Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!”

Regards,

Mr. Jim Lamond

Community Spirit is alive @ well at Tamanawis!

On December 7, 2017 the PE 10 Leadership class hosted the 20th Annual Christmas Community Dinner.  During the evening over 350 guests enjoyed performances by the jazz band, vocal performance and dance team.  The culinary arts classes provided an amazing turkey dinner with all the fixings.  As the dinner finished, the arrival of Santa filled the room with excitement and the children had a chance to visit with him in his workshop.  All the children on the Nice List received a lovely gift from Santa and his Elves.  The children also had the opportunity to do some crafts, play games, face painting and decorate Krispy Kreme wreaths.  The event would not have been possible without the support of our community sponsors as well as all the classes from Tamanawis and Boundary Park who took part in our annual toy drive!  We would like to send out a special thank you to the Peach Arch White Rock Rotary for them continued support; without them we would not be able to do what we do! Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night!

Thank you to all the many sponsors who made this special night possible . . .

The Annual Rocket Launch!

During 2nd period on a beautifully sunny but cold day on December, 5th, AW Math 11 students from Ms. Moon’s class, along with Mr. Bankes and Ms. Eytcheson made their Rockets cruise  . . . or not, depending on circumstances!  Check out the BIG Launch . . .

The Evolution of . . . Social Studies!

Come check out our ever evolving Social Studies bulletin board upstairs in the South Hallway.  This month’s feature is “Meme-orable Social Studies.”  Over the past month, Mr. Stolz’s Social Justice 12, Ms. Rogan’s Social Studies 10, Mr. Vandevyvere’s Social Studies 9 and 10 and Ms. Cybulskie’s Social Studies 9 classes showed their learning through the creation of memes – photos with captions that are intended to be a humorous critique of an idea.

  . . . a ‘sneak peak’ into the Yearbook!

Student Achievements!

Ms. Yakubowski who heads up our ‘Empowered Club’,  would like to acknowledge one of our amazing Tamanawis students – Arjan S.  Arjan, who is not even a part of the EMPOWERED Club, has been donating money into Change 4 Change every week. He alone has raised over $50! Because of generous students like Arjan, the club has raised over $700 towards our goal of $1,500!!  We are feeding over 150 dying children in South Sudan once again. Well done Tamanawis Students. You truly ARE amazing!!

Wildcat Athletics!

Basketball season is in full swing.  All of the teams have had a good start to the season and every coach reports that the teams are playing very well and coming together, which will hopefully lead to stellar seasons for all.  Tamanawis hosts the third Holiday Senior Boys’ Basketball Tournament from December 27 to 29.  Come out and support the ‘boys!  Also coming up in January is the RCMP Basketball Tournament from January 15-18, 2018.
